๐ I Got My Piercings BackโฆThen My Thrift-Store Radar Went Off
What started as a quick after-work errand turned into another Palm Beach County thrift-store mission. Ted should know better by now. ๐
Mission accomplished! ๐โจ
After work, I finally replaced my missing piercings.
This had been on my list for a while, and naturally I had turned it into a much bigger production in my head than it actually was.
The whole thing was so quick that Iโm pretty sure I spent more time looking for parking than actually getting pierced. ๐
Done.
New piercings. Happy Aidalyn.
Time to go home.
Or so Ted thought.
๐จ My Thrift-Store Radar Has Entered the Chat
Ted and I were walking back toward the car when something happened.
My radar went off.
Not weather radar.
Not emergency radar.
Thrift-store radar. ๐จ๐
If youโre a fellow thrift-store hunter, you know exactly what Iโm talking about.
You can be driving down a road youโve traveled a hundred times when suddenly, out of the corner of your eye:
THRIFT STORE.
Everything else disappears.
I spotted one I hadnโt explored before, right here in Palm Beach County.
I gasped. ๐ฑ
I smiled. ๐
I immediately started calculating how much time I had available to investigate.
And then I saw the hours.
CLOSED.
๐ญ๐
๐๏ธ The Absolute Disrespect
Excuse me?
How dare a thrift store close before I have had the opportunity to lovingly inspect every rack?
There could be a $6 designer blouse in there.
A fabulous handbag nobody else noticed.
A pair of shoes waiting for me.
Or, more realistically, another coffee mug I absolutely do not need but will somehow convince myself has been missing from my life. โ๐
Weโll never know.
At least, not today.
๐ Meanwhile, Ted Was Having the Best Day of His Life
I looked at Ted.
The man was not devastated.
Not even a little.
In fact, I detected something suspiciously close toโฆ
relief.
๐
Because Ted knows what happens when I say:
โIโm just going to look really quick.โ
There is no really quick.
Really quick becomes:
โLet me check this rack.โ
Then:
โWait, thereโs another room.โ
Followed by:
โHold on. I havenโt looked at the handbags yet.โ
Meanwhile, Ted is sitting in the car, reconsidering every decision that led him to this moment. ๐๐
But this time?
He escaped.
For one glorious evening, the thrift store was closed and Ted didnโt have to spend an hour waiting for me while I searched every aisle convinced I was seconds away from finding a $10 designer handbag.
Enjoy your victory, Money Boss.
Becauseโฆ
๐ This Weekend Is a Different Story
Iโve already established the priorities.
โ Grocery shopping.
โ Cleaning the house.
โ Being responsible.
โ Return to the thrift store.
โ Hunt for hidden treasures.
โ Search for things I didnโt know I needed.
โ Test Tedโs patience once again.
๐โค๏ธ
And honestly, thatโs half the fun of thrifting.
You never know whatโs going to be there.
Maybe nothing.
Maybe something ridiculous.
Or maybe that one fabulous find that makes you walk out thinking:
HOW did nobody else grab this?!
Thatโs what keeps me going back.
๐ To Be Continuedโฆ
So the mission isnโt over.
Itโs merely been postponed.
Weโll be returning this weekend, and I fully intend to investigate the situation properly.
Wish us luck.
One of us is extremely excited about this mission.
And itโs definitely not the guy in the passenger seat. ๐คฃ๐๐
