🔥 Menopause Made Me Do It! Girlfriend Talks, Brain Fog & a Mammogram Three Weeks Early 😂
Beauty tips became bloodwork, dessert became salad (with vodka), and I showed up for my mammogram three weeks early. 😂 Welcome to menopause and life after 50.
Today I had a quick conversation with a friend, and somehow—because apparently this is what happens when women reach a certain age—the conversation turned to menopause.
Of course it did. 😂🔥
We joked about MEN-o-PAUSE… as in, can we please pause the men for five minutes because they are driving us crazy? 🤣
Although, to be fair, I’m pretty sure the men are somewhere having their own conversation:
“What happened to her?”
Sir, WE DON’T KNOW EITHER. 😂
How Girlfriend Conversations Change After 50
As a woman navigating life after 50, I’ve discovered that menopause doesn’t just change our bodies. It changes our conversations, our sense of humor, and apparently our relationship with Google Calendar. 😂
It got me thinking about how conversations with girlfriends have changed over the years.
Back in the day, we’d get together and talk about makeup, hair, shoes, clothes, dating, beauty tips, and all kinds of completely unnecessary nonsense.
Now?
“How’s your cholesterol?”
“Did you get your mammogram?”
“What’s your A1C?”
“Who’s your dermatologist?”
“Are you taking magnesium?”
“Wait… why did I come into this room?” 🤦♀️😂
We’ve gone from swapping lipstick recommendations to comparing bloodwork.
THIS is 50+. 🤣
Even ordering food has changed.
Twenty years ago:
🍰 “Let’s split the chocolate cake.”
Now:
🥗 “I’ll have the salad, dressing on the side, no croutons, please.”
Then we whisper:
🍸 “…and put a little vodka in something.”
Because we’re concerned about our health.
But we’re not animals. 😂
And then there’s the mood situation.
🔥 Menopause, Mood Swings & the Art of Being Irritated for Absolutely No Reason
Have you ever been completely, irrationally, unnecessarily PISSED OFF at somebody…
…and they haven’t actually done anything?
You’re just looking at them thinking:
“I don’t know what you did, but I’m going to need you to stop.” 😑😂🔥
Then came today’s masterpiece.
I got up this morning and went to my mammogram appointment like the responsible, organized, health-conscious woman that I am. 🎀💪
I arrived prepared.
Mentally ready for the annual boob pancake. 🥞😂
Except…

MY APPOINTMENT IS THREE WEEKS FROM NOW.
THREE. WEEKS. EARLY.
🤣🤣🤣
Naturally, my first instinct was:
MENOPAUSE!!!
Brain fog! Hormones! Technology! Calendar confusion!
Except there was one tiny problem…
I was the one who put the appointment in my calendar LAST YEAR. 🤦♀️
Apparently Past Aidalyn decided Future Aidalyn needed a little field trip.
So technically, menopause didn’t screw up my schedule.
I screwed up my schedule.
But menopause has been blamed for enough things at this point that I’m pretty sure she can take one more for the team. 😂🔥
Life after 50 really is something else.
We still talk about beauty.
We still love clothes.
We still gossip.
We still laugh until somebody nearly pees—and now that’s an actual medical concern. 😂
But somewhere along the way, our conversations became about mammograms, cholesterol, blood sugar, hormones, aching knees, mystery weight gain, sleep, supplements, and which doctor actually LISTENS.
And you know what?
I wouldn’t trade those girlfriend conversations for anything. ❤️
Because there is something wonderfully comforting about sitting across from another woman who understands that you can be healthy, happy, successful, completely sane…
…and still want to murder someone because they’re chewing too loudly. 😑😂
🔥 Welcome to life after 50.
Where friendships are stronger, conversations are stranger, salads are healthier…
…and there’s still a splash of vodka. 🍸😂
Now tell me: what’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve blamed on menopause lately? 👇🤣
