Delray Beach knows how to throw a party. 🌴🎉 From art festivals and holiday traditions to parades, food events, and celebrations that take over Atlantic Avenue, there always seems to be something going on. Since I live here, these aren’t just dates on a tourism calendar — they’re the events that make Delray feel like Delray. And yes, they also mean traffic, impossible parking, and me wondering why I didn’t leave the house 20 minutes earlier. 😂 For more local favorites, visit my Delray Beach Local Guide.
🎨 The Delray Affair
The Delray Affair is one of those events that completely takes over downtown — in the best possible way. 🎨🌴 Atlantic Avenue fills with artists, vendors, food, and people wandering around saying they’re “just looking” before somehow going home with three shopping bags. 😂 It’s a Delray tradition and one of the biggest annual events I’d tell visitors to put on their calendar.
🍴 Downtown Delray Beach Restaurant Month
Delray Beach Restaurant Month is basically permission to eat your way through town and call it research. 😂🍷 Local restaurants offer special menus and dining deals, which makes it a fun time to try somewhere new — or return to a favorite and pretend you needed an excuse. With so many restaurants around Atlantic Avenue and downtown, this is one event I can happily support with a fork in one hand and a cocktail in the other. 🍴🍸 For more places to eat, see my Best Restaurants & Bars in Delray Beach guide.
🎄 The 100-Foot Christmas Tree
Every holiday season, Delray Beach goes big — literally. 😂🎄 The famous 100-Foot Christmas Tree lights up downtown and turns the area around Old School Square into a holiday celebration. Between the lights, decorations, music, and families wandering around downtown, it’s one of those Delray traditions that makes December feel festive even when it’s still warm enough for flip-flops. 🌴🎅
🍀 St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Delray Beach takes St. Patrick’s Day seriously. 🍀😂 The annual parade brings Atlantic Avenue to life with marching bands, floats, firefighters, community groups, and plenty of green everywhere you look. It’s one of those days when downtown is packed, loud, festive, and completely Delray. My advice? Get there early, wear something green, and do not expect to find your favorite parking spot five minutes before the parade starts. 😂🍻
🎶 Delray Beach Jazz & Music Events
Delray Beach loves live music, and throughout the year, you’ll find concerts and music events happening around downtown and Old School Square. 🎶🌴 Some nights are perfect for grabbing dinner first and making an evening of it, while others turn into one of those “we were only going out for an hour” situations. 😂🍷 Live music is a big part of the Delray atmosphere, especially when the weather is gorgeous, and everyone wants to be outside.
🏎️ Delray Beach Concours d’Elegance
If beautiful cars are your thing — or you just enjoy pretending one of them belongs in your driveway 😂 — the Delray Beach Concours d’Elegance is a fun one to watch for. 🏎️✨ Expect an impressive collection of classic, exotic, and luxury cars along with plenty of people admiring every detail. It’s a completely different kind of Delray event, which is exactly why I like including it on the calendar.
🐾 Delray Beach GreenMarket
The Delray Beach GreenMarket is one of my favorite ways to spend a weekend morning downtown. 🌴☕ You can wander through local vendors, pick up fresh produce and baked goods, grab something to eat, and of course, do a little shopping you absolutely did not plan on doing. 😂 It has that relaxed, local Delray feel that makes it worth visiting even if your grocery list somehow turns into breakfast and a bag full of goodies.
🎃 Halloween on the Ave
Halloween on the Ave brings costumes, families, and plenty of spooky fun to downtown Delray. 🎃👻 Atlantic Avenue gets into the Halloween spirit with activities and entertainment, and it’s especially fun if you have kids or grandkids along for the adventure. Of course, adults are allowed to enjoy it too — especially if there’s a cocktail waiting somewhere on Atlantic Avenue afterward. 😂🍸
🦃 Thanksgiving Weekend & Holiday Kickoff
Thanksgiving weekend feels like the unofficial start of the holiday season in Delray Beach. 🦃🎄 Downtown starts getting festive, restaurants get busy, and Atlantic Avenue begins showing off its holiday sparkle. It’s a great weekend for visiting family, eating way too much, walking it off downtown, and reminding yourself that yes — Christmas lights and palm trees absolutely belong together. 😂🌴✨
🎆 New Year’s Eve in Delray Beach
New Year’s Eve in Delray Beach gives you plenty of ways to celebrate, whether you want a fabulous dinner, cocktails on Atlantic Avenue, live music, or a night out with friends. 🥂🎆 Restaurants and bars can get very busy, so this is definitely one night when I’d make reservations instead of relying on my favorite travel strategy: “We’ll figure it out.” 😂 If you’re staying downtown, even better — celebrate, have fun, and leave the driving to someone else. Planning a getaway with friends? See my Girls’ Weekend in Delray Beach guide.
🌸 Morikami Museum & Japanese Gardens Events
Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens is just outside downtown Delray, but it absolutely belongs on my local events list. 🌸🇯🇵 Throughout the year, Morikami hosts Japanese cultural celebrations, demonstrations, workshops, and special events that make a visit feel like much more than just walking through the gardens. And considering my love for Japan, you already know I don’t need much convincing to go back. 😂🌸
🥂 Delray Beach Wine & Food Events
Delray Beach and food events are a combination I’m always willing to support. 😂🍷 Throughout the year, you’ll find special tastings, wine dinners, culinary events, and other excuses to eat and drink your way around town. These are especially fun with friends because apparently sampling wine and calling it a “cultural experience” makes everything sound very sophisticated. 🥂😂
❤️ Delray Beach Pride & Community Events
Delray Beach has a strong sense of community, and throughout the year you’ll find celebrations and events that bring people together. ❤️🌈 From Pride celebrations to community festivals and local gatherings, these events are a reminder that Delray is about more than beaches, restaurants, and cocktails — although I’m certainly not giving up the cocktails. 😂🍸 I love seeing downtown filled with people celebrating, supporting local businesses, and enjoying the city together.
🌊 Delray Beach Open & Beach Events
The beach isn’t just for lounging in Delray. 🌊☀️ Throughout the year, you’ll find events and activities that bring people right to the oceanfront, from sporting events to community gatherings and special celebrations. When something is happening by the beach, my advice is simple: arrive early, expect parking to be an adventure, and remember that everything feels a little better with an ocean view. 😂🌴
🎨 First Friday Art Walk
First Friday Art Walk is a fun excuse to explore Delray’s creative side. 🎨🥂 On participating First Fridays, galleries and arts spaces around downtown welcome visitors for an evening of art, culture, and wandering around town. It’s perfect for making a night of it — see some art, grab dinner, have a glass of wine, and suddenly I’m extremely cultured. 😂🍷
🚲 Delray Beach Twilight Festival & Street Events
Delray Beach knows how to turn downtown into an event. 🚲🎉 From street festivals and special celebrations to evenings when Atlantic Avenue becomes part of the action, these are the days when you really feel the energy of the city. My local rule? If streets are closing, assume parking will require patience, comfortable shoes, and possibly a cocktail afterward. 😂🍸
🐶 Paws in the Park & Pet-Friendly Events
Delray Beach loves its four-legged residents, too. 🐶🌴 Pet-friendly events throughout the year give locals and visitors an excuse to bring the dogs along for the fun. Expect plenty of wagging tails, adorable outfits, and at least one dog who is clearly better dressed than I am. 😂 Whether it’s a special pet event or a dog-friendly gathering around town, Delray makes it pretty easy to include your furry family members.
🎭 Arts Garage & Cultural Events
Arts Garage is one of those places that keeps something interesting happening in downtown Delray. 🎭🎶 From live music and performances to art and cultural events, it’s a great option when you want a night out that involves more than dinner and cocktails. One thing I really like is that you can bring your own food, then order your drinks from Arts Garage. That makes it easy to turn the show into a relaxed little night out with friends. And obviously, nobody said you can’t have dinner and cocktails before or after, too. 😂🍷
🦃 A Quiet Thanksgiving Tradition in Delray Beach
One of the things I love about Delray Beach is that not every meaningful tradition comes with a banner, ticket booth, or official event page. On Thanksgiving Day, residents quietly come together, pool money, and arrange Thanksgiving dinners to be delivered to police stations and fire stations around the area. It’s not a big public event, and that’s part of what makes it special. It’s simply neighbors saying thank you to the people working while the rest of us are sitting down to dinner. ❤️🦃
📚 Delray Reads Day
Delray Reads Day is one of those community events I really love. 📚❤️ Residents can register to volunteer, choose a participating elementary school, and spend time reading to children in the classroom. It’s such a simple way for people in the community to get involved and connect with local students — and it shows a completely different side of Delray Beach beyond the restaurants, beaches, and festivals. Sometimes the best local events aren’t about cocktails at all. I know, shocking. 😂🍷

🎸 Beatles on the Beach
Beatles on the Beach brings a little Liverpool to Delray Beach. 🎸🌴 This annual celebration of Beatles music features live performances and plenty of nostalgia for anyone who still knows exactly when to sing along. 😂🎶 It’s one of those fun, slightly unexpected Delray events that gives you another excuse to head downtown, enjoy the music, and make a night of it.
🚤 Holiday Boat Parade
Christmas in South Florida looks a little different — sometimes Santa arrives by boat. 😂🎅🚤 The annual Holiday Boat Parade lights up the Intracoastal with decorated boats, holiday lights, music, and plenty of Florida-style Christmas spirit. Residents who live along the Intracoastal often throw watch parties, with friends and family gathering by the water as the decorated boats cruise past. 🥂🎄 It turns into a whole evening — food, drinks, neighbors, music, and everyone waiting for the next boat to come by. It’s one of those traditions that feels very South Florida: Christmas lights, palm trees, cocktails, and a parade happening right in your backyard. 🌴✨
🍎 Annual Education Breakfast
Back-to-school season in Delray Beach also includes the Annual Education Breakfast, a community gathering that helps kick off the new school year. 🍎📚 It brings people together around our local schools, students, teachers, and education — another reminder that there’s a lot more to Delray than beaches and Atlantic Avenue. I love events like this because you get to see the community side of the city that visitors don’t always get to experience. ❤️
🍎 Roots and Wings Above and Beyond Awards
Some of Delray Beach’s most meaningful events happen away from Atlantic Avenue. ❤️🍎 Through its Above and Beyond Awards, local nonprofit Roots and Wings recognizes elementary school educators who are making a difference for their students. Teachers and staff are surprised with recognition for going above and beyond, and guests are welcome to attend the celebration and share in the excitement. I love that our community takes the time to celebrate the people helping our kids every day. It’s another side of Delray that you won’t necessarily see on a vacation brochure, but it’s a big part of what makes this community special.
🚓 Delray Beach Police National Night Out
Delray Beach Police National Night Out is one of those community events that brings residents and local law enforcement together in a much more relaxed setting. 🚓❤️ It’s a chance for families, neighbors, police officers, and other community members to meet, talk, and enjoy activities together. I like events like this because they show another side of Delray — the people who live here actually getting to know the people who serve our community. 🌴
🎆 4th of July in Delray Beach
Delray Beach knows how to do the 4th of July. 🇺🇸🎆 Between the beach, music, families, downtown energy, and fireworks, it’s one of those days when the whole city feels like it’s outside celebrating. If you’re planning to come into town for it, expect crowds and give yourself extra time for parking and getting around. My advice is simple: arrive early, make a day of it, and enjoy the fact that fireworks over the ocean are pretty hard to beat. 🌊🎆😂
📅 When Is the Best Time to Visit Delray Beach for Events?
There really isn’t a bad time to visit Delray Beach, but from fall through spring is especially busy with festivals, parades, outdoor events, holiday celebrations, and gorgeous South Florida weather. 🌴☀️ Winter is also our busy season, so expect more people, higher hotel prices, and restaurants that suddenly act like getting a Saturday-night reservation requires a personal connection to the mayor. 😂🍷 If there’s a particular event you want to attend, I’d plan the trip around it and book your hotel early. Coming to town for an event? See my Delray Beach Hotel Guide for places to stay.
❤️ Why I Love Delray Beach Events
Christmas in South Florida looks a little different — sometimes Santa arrives by boat. 😂🎅🚤 The annual holiday boat parade lights up the Intracoastal with decorated boats, holiday lights, music, and plenty of Florida-style Christmas spirit. It’s such a fun tradition because where else can you watch a Christmas parade on the water while surrounded by palm trees? 🌴🎄✨ Find a good viewing spot, get there early, and enjoy one of those nights that reminds you why the holidays in Delray Beach are pretty special.
🌴 Final Thoughts
Delray Beach has a way of turning almost anything into a reason to get together. 🌴🎉 We have the big festivals, parades, concerts, holiday celebrations, food events, and plenty of sunshine — but some of my favorites are the smaller community traditions that visitors may never hear about. Whether you’re planning a trip around one of our signature events or you happen to stumble into something happening on Atlantic Avenue, join in and enjoy it. Just remember my Delray survival rules: arrive early, wear comfortable shoes, make the dinner reservation, and never underestimate the parking situation. 😂🍷🌴
